Meet Dr. Zev Kaufman

People have always told me that I was destined to be a dentist from the day I was born. My father was a dentist back in the former Soviet Union and when we moved to Israel in 1973, he built a great practice in Haifa, only to uproot the family and move to the United States in 1984. My father was the "personal dentist," whose patients not only trusted him to deliver excellent work but to educate them and make proper decisions in their ongoing oral health care. The trust and respect my father commanded is actually what made me go into dentistry. I wanted to be someone people could trust to help them change their lives.

I walked into NYU College of Dentistry in 1990 and never left. I graduated three times, first with my DDS degree, then with a postgraduate certificate in the specialty of prosthodontics, and finally with a postgraduate certificate and fellowship in Implant Dentistry. Since then, I’ve stayed close to NYU’s Department of Periodontics and Implant Dentistry and have taught the Advanced Implant Restorative Seminars course continually since 1999. Even today I go there once a week and love to pass on the knowledge I was fortunate to acquire for over twenty years in this wonderful profession.

Over the years, I have seen fads and innovations come and go. The one constant is the human anatomy and people's desire to look and feel better about themselves. At the end of the day, the only thing that matters to me is making my patients happy. I practice time-tested and proven dentistry, using the most advanced technology possible, keeping in mind that the technology exists to serve my patients, and not just for technology’s sake.

The difference between good and bad dentistry isn’t what it looks like today, it’s what it looks like in 10 years.

Dr. Zev Kaufman

When I’m not at the office, I mostly spend time with my family and work on staying fit. My wife and I have two amazing children who we love to vacation and travel with whenever we get the chance. More recently, I’ve really started to enjoy cycling to work. On weekends, I ride my motorcycle outside the city for fun and work on my photography skills.
